Our resources page contains additional information about the types of cases we defend against on behalf of our clients. We invite you to browse through these articles to learn more about specific charges, common penalties, and how the attorney teams at SBBL approach a strategic, effective defense.
Federal Criminal Defense
Federal criminal cases include anything from drug trafficking and gun charges to tax evasion and health care fraud. Federal cases are usually investigated by federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI, DEA, ATF, or IRS. The U.S. Attorney’s Office decides whether or not to charge the case federally.
Michigan Domestic Violence Charges
A charge of domestic violence (DV) is an assault or battery that occurs with someone with whom you have a domestic or dating relationship, e.g., husband/wife, parent/child, girlfriend/boyfriend, a child in common, or roommate.
Murder-for-Hire Charges
It is a federal crime to hire or promise to pay a person to murder someone when doing so affects interstate or foreign commerce.
Federal Firearms Offenses
Most firearms charges can be prosecuted in either federal or state court. Cases that end up in federal court usually result in higher sentences than in state court because of federal mandatory minimum and maximum sentencing laws and the United States Sentencing Guidelines.
